Welcome to the Peardale Chicago Park Fire Protection District website. We provide services such as; fire protection for structures and wild-land, emergency medical response and public assistance from Station 57, located at 18934 Colfax Hwy in Chicago Park, and Station 257, located at 15750 Colfax Hwy in Peardale. Our non-emergency phone number is 530-273-2503.
Both of our stations are located on the Highway 174 corridor and serve the communities of Peardale, Chicago Park, You Bet/Red Dog and the outlying areas. Our department utilizes two fire engines, one wild-land engine, one water tender, two utility vehicles and our most recent addition, Patrol 57. The Fire District is nearly 21 square miles with approximately 3000 residents. Emergency medical services are also provided for the three public campgrounds on Rollins Lake; Orchard Springs, Greenhorn and Peninsula, whose summertime guests can swell the district population to over 5000.
The department is proud to participate in the California Master Mutual Aid Agreement. This means the Peardale Chicago Park Fire personnel will respond to emergencies throughout the state of California when requested. Peardale-Chicago Park Fire Protection District also sends mutual aid to surrounding fire departments as the need arises.
On average, the department responds to over 300 emergency incidents per year with 80% of the calls being for medical assistance. Peardale Chicago Park emergency personnel respond with Sierra Nevada Hospital EMS on medical calls within the fire district. The department currently has personnel who are certified as Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, First Responder and Critical Care. These personnel are trained to state standards in emergency medical care in areas such as CPR, vital signs, trauma care, and assisting with other medical emergencies.
In addition to structure fires, wildland fires and medical aid, the department trains for and responds to a variety of other emergencies, such as; traffic accidents, hazardous materials incidents, weather incidents, and water incidents. Our department is staffed by two full time firefighters and many paid call volunteer firefighters. Peardale-Chicago Park FPD is an active participant in the Nevada County Strike Team Response to major wildland fires that occur in California each year. As part of the strike team, our wildland engine, Brush 57, joins up with four other engines from other Nevada County fire departments and also a chief officer to act as a strike team leader. Once all of the engines are gathered together they proceed to whichever fire they are called to respond to in the state and then function as a team for the duration of the assignment.
